Berlin Marathon

From Max’s sister Kate

On Sunday 21st September, I took on the challenge of running my first marathon, in Berlin, in memory of my brother Max.

The morning began with plenty of nerves, and with temperatures reaching 27 degrees under bright sunshine, it quickly became a test of endurance. By halfway I was already feeling overheated and exhausted. But every step was for Max and to help those who are suffering as he was and I had to keep going.

The atmosphere along the course was truly unforgettable – thousands of people lined the streets with cheers, encouragement, and music. A special thank you goes to my wonderful family, who supported me so much throughout the day. Ella and Jeremy somehow managed to spot me 15 times along the route, while my parents were there cheering at five different points – their encouragement meant the world.

The final kilometres were incredibly emotional, and crossing the finish line in 4 hours 30 minutes was a moment I’ll never forget. Despite the heat and challenges, it was one of the most special experiences of my life and all for Max.

I am deeply grateful for the generous support, encouragement, and donations I’ve received along this journey. We have raised well over £5000 for our charity and this will provide hope to many young people in desperate need. This achievement is for my little brother, and I couldn’t have done it without all of you. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
