The Max Windle Memorial Trust supports Youth Emotional Support Services for young people in Sussex

The Max Windle Memorial Trust (MWMT) is proud to support additional Youth Emotional Support provision for young people aged 8 – 17 who are registered with Park and Orchard practices in Sussex. This project began on 2nd February 2026 and is running for 2 years.

The Sussex-based Trust was founded in 2021 by Max’s family in his memory, following Max’s death at the age of sixteen. Since its creation, MWMT has worked to honour Max’s legacy by supporting initiatives that promote emotional wellbeing, encourage open conversations about mental health, and improve access to support for young people and families.

Youth Emotional Support Services (YES), delivered by West Sussex County Council, is an established service supporting young people aged 8 – 17, with a core focus on those aged 11 – 17, with their emotional and mental wellbeing. The service provides young people with the opportunity to talk about how they are feeling, explore challenges they may be experiencing, and be supported to access further help when appropriate.

Thanks to the generosity of MWMT supporters and fundraisers, the Trust is funding additional Youth Emotional Support capacity for patients at Park and Orchard practices. This funding helps extend the availability of emotional wellbeing support locally, ensuring more young people can be supported at an early stage and guided towards the right help.

Through this partnership, MWMT and local health partners share a commitment to raising awareness of the support available to young people and helping families feel confident in seeking help when it is needed. As part of this, the Trust wants to ensure that more young people can access timely support close to home, reflecting its wider mission to improve mental health outcomes for young people.

If you or someone you know is struggling or needs urgent support, please contact your GP, call NHS 111, or seek immediate help via A&E. Free, confidential emotional support is also available from Samaritans on 116 123.

Additional specialist support for young people and families can be found via Young Minds, who offer further information, guidance and services for those affected by mental health difficulties.
